Monika cloud food safety system a finalist in The Caterer awards

October 11th , 2016 by

Monika has provided creative, state-of-the-art, safety monitoring solutions for food service and retail establishments since 1992 and has been named as a finalist in The Caterer magazine’s Product Excellence Awards, 2016.  From many entrants, Monika is one of three finalists selected for the Technology category of these prestigious hospitality industry awards for the development of the PathFinder system with cloud subscription service.

The new Monika cloud hosting service represents an extremely cost efficient, state-of-the-art alternative to business’s hosting the system on their intranet or internal computer system. The new web based system is fully scalable and is therefore equally suited to those operating single sites as it is to those managing national chains. The system allows business managers to monitor the temperature of their refrigerated and freezer appliances as well as both raw and cooked food items, anywhere and at any time.

Fully automated, remote monitoring achieves real-time temperature recording using reliable, robust, food simulant sensors and is also able to detail the status of doors, compressor and defrost cycles of appliances. In addition to this, Monika is able to accurately record the timely completion of HACCP related hygiene tasks, not only providing the business owner or head office with the reassurance that their teams are undertaking tasks correctly, but also demonstrating complete compliance with legislation and food standard regulations to environmental health organisations.

Monika’s cloud hosted system is accessible on any internet enabled device and is optimised for use on tablets, smartphones, PC’s and Macs. With individual users able to access the dashboard on their specific devices, operators are able to see an overview of their kitchen in real-time.  Users can respond to alarms and critical incidents, such as an appliance exceeding the pre-set temperature range, by assigning corrective and preventative actions, 24 hours a day. The technology uses a system of escalating alerts and alarms, depending on the seriousness of the event, to send notifications, emails and SMS messages to key personnel to achieve fast, efficient, corrective actions, potentially saving stock and ensuring smooth operation within a kitchen or retail environment.

For management teams, Monika’s cloud hosting system provides instant access to the performance of equipment and task management at the level of individual sites, regions and whole estates. Whether requiring a simple overview, more detailed analysis of key performance indicators, informative graphs or comprehensive reports, the system allows full remote management anywhere in the world.

The Product Excellence Awards are organised annually by the esteemed industry magazine The Caterer to recognise excellence and innovation in food/drink and equipment products within the hospitality sector.

Winners will be announced in a formal awards ceremony on Thursday 1st December at Westminster Kingsway College in London.
